Why Host a Trainee?
For September 2020 we will be working with a number of schools who will each host trainees for the year.
A Trainee Provides:
- Provides development for a mentor in relation to their coaching and mentoring skills/ career development
- Additional capacity for a school
- Succession planning opportunities
- Opportunity to shape and support a future generation of teaching in the region
- Access to the latest updates in relation to training and mentoring
Hosting a SCITT trainee with us will bring many benefits. You can be part of the selection process from the start, ensuring that any placed trainees are right for your school. There is no cost to the school to host and additionally you will receive management and administrative support from the L.E.A.D. Equate team to coordinate training and development. Schools will allocate a class-based mentor to the trainee, who will receive training and development where needed.
At the start of the school year, trainees are class-based for part of the week, giving them more time with tutors off-site developing the theory and principles behind the teaching role. This class-time increases during the year. This allows the trainees to gain confidence gradually and reduces any burden on the host school. Throughout the year, L.E.A.D. Equate Teaching School and our SCITT Provider, will work with the trainee and school to ensure the placement and learning is on track and successful, removing any risk to the school.
We are always looking to hear from other schools who want to join us in our journey of training new teachers in Lincolnshire so please get in touch to find out more!
